To serve the local and travelers alike, The Colony is home Berkshire Hathaway Development called Grandscape. In heart of that development is Nebraska Furniture Mart located at 5600 Nebraska Furniture Mart Dr, The Colony, Texas. This location has 560,000 square feet of retail space and 1,300,000 of warehouse space. Other Major retailers are Walmart, The Home Depot, Kohl, Andretti Indoor Karting and Games, Lava Cantina, The Lawn at Grandscape, and many others.

The road and rail network are a significant resource for The Colony. Countless roads connect different neighborhoods in the municipality. Also, State Highway 121 the major route connecting The Colony to the neighboring cities.

The Colony is served by Lewisville ISD. The Lewisville ISD has built six elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school inside the city limits of the The Colony, Texas.

The Colony doesn’t have a college however, there’s a beauty school campus as well as various occupational classes in some of the high schools. The public schooling system of The Colony is a significant resource for the county though there’s the option of a private school or homeschooling.
